The Advance Auto in Burnsville joined more than 200 franchise stores across the Southeast that have been broken into and robbed in the past year and a half. The break-in at the Burnsville store happened on July 26. An Advance Auto employee discovered the robbery and called the Burnsville Police Department. Officer Brandon Buchanan responded to the call and discovered that the back door of the establishment had been pried open and that the safe inside the store had been drilled open and an undisclosed amount of money was taken. Buchanan also discovered that the phone lines to the business, located in the Burnsville Plaza Shopping Center, had been cut disabling the alarm system. It was the same method used in the other robberies so it is believed that all the break-ins are related. The Burnsville Police Department is continuing the investigation into the incident.
