Details:  He was a Native of Mitchell County, NC and the son of the late Oscar and Ada Greene Rice. He was a retired Mechanic and Truck Driver for Mayland Stone. He was a Member of Ledger Baptist Church and a Member of Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357AF&AM and 32nd Degree Oasis Shrine .
     Survivors include two sisters; Mattie L. Sparks, of Bakersville, NC and Mary Stafford, of Spruce Pine, NC, several nieces and nephews, and special caregiver Sue Sparks, of Bakersville, NC.
     He was preceded in death by his sisters; Thelma Sparks and Lillie Rice, and two brothers Willie and Cecil Rice.
     The family will receive friends Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2:00PM until 3:00PM in Henline – Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Henline -  Hughes Funeral Home , with Chris Rathbone and Larry Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Ledger Cemetery.
