As the Burnsville Police continue investigating a rash of burglaries at local businesses there's a report of another burglary. Police caught a man in Yancey Farm Bureau Wednesday night trying to break into the safe at the business. We will have further details as they become available from the Burnsville Police. As reported last week, two people wearing hoodies were captured on video as they drilled open a safe at Heritage Lumber company. Burnsville Police Chief Brian Buchanan said his officers have recently responded to calls from Smith's Barbershop, Creative Hair Design and Always Something New as well as the burglary on July 26 at Advance Auto Parts. Police are also coordinating with Departments in Mitchell and Madison Counties who have had similar burglaries. Patrols have been increased by the Burnsville Police Department. Meanwhile they recommend that businesses do not leave cash on the premises. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the Yancey Sheriff's Department at 682-2124.
