Graduation Rates Continue to Rise in Mitchell County

The graduation rate at Mitchell High School continues to improve. Mitchell County’s graduation rate rose to 83.5 percent last year, topping the 80 percent mark from 2010-2011. The implementation of several initiatives to improve the graduation benchmark in the community have been cited as a reason for the gains, including the introduction of the Freshman Academy at the high school as well as recent innovations in technology that gave every Mitchell student access to a laptop. The addition of a graduation coach has also been a factor in the improving graduation rates according to school officials who expect the trend to continue in the future.
