Details: A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of RL and Barbara Garland Street. He was also preceded in death by grandparents: Nave and Frances Street and Claude and Frances (Tottie) Garland; aunts and uncles: NF and Hazel Street, Christine Moody, Ronald Street and Dale Garland. He worked at Buchanan and Young Chrysler Dodge Jeep for 27 years where he was a SAE Certified Mechanic and Service Manager. Michael loved working on cars, racing, fishing and camping.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his children: Devin Shane Street, Michael Alexander Street and Will Morphy; fiancé, Elizabeth Morphy; brothers: Randy Street and wife, Rhonda, Keith Street and wife, Dawn and Ronnie Street and wife, Debbie; nieces: Misty Hollifield and husband, Brandon, Kaylia Street, Amberly Biddix and husband, Tyler and Autumn Thompson; great-niece and nephew: Keiara Shea Laws and Mason Hollifield. Several aunts, uncles and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Billy Stewart and Rev. Darryl Huskins will officiate. Burial will be in the Edwards Cemetery at Fork Mountain. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At all other times the family will be gathering at the home of his mother, Barbara, 23 Old Hughes Gap Road and also at Carolyn Morphy’s residence, 999 South 226 Highway.
Memorial donations may be made to the family to help with expenses. The family would like to say a special thank you to: Larry Mosely, Katherine Hoilman, Penny Brinkley, Bailey Brinkley and Maxi Dean Yelton.
