Details: A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Perry D. and Eva Griffith Gouge.  Ed was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran where he became a pilot.  He and his wife owned and operated Ed Gouge General Merchandise.  He was preceded in death by siblings: Lillian Robinson, Paulette Black, Reid Gouge, and Betty Revis.  Ed was a member and past Master of Burnsville Lodge #717 A.F. and A. M.  He was a member of Celo United Methodist Church.
     Surviving are his wife of 55 years Johnnie Robinson Gouge; a son, William Edwin Gouge, Jr. of Charlotte; a daughter: Lynn G. Wheeler and husband Tommy of Burnsville.
     A memorial service will be held at 7:30pm Wednesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  The Rev. Tommy Robertson and Gwen Harris will officiate.
     The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
