TRACTOR, the new aggregation center in Burnsville that processes and packages local produce for market, has hired its first director. Robin Smith, owner of Bee Log Farm and Nursery, brings a lot of knowledge in marketing, farming and management skills to the job. She serves on the WNC League of Conservation Voters and serves on the Yancey Cooperative Extension Ag Advisory Education Committee. Smith’s first task as director is to get acquainted with growers and arrange to meet buyers while planning for the summer 2013 growing season.
