Details: She was the daughter of the late Doyle and Louise Carpenter Gunter. She was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Kay was a very caring and giving person who was always ready to help others.
Surviving are her husband, Daniel Helms; daughter, Kim Nelon; son, Shane Gunter and wife Jeannine all of Spruce Pine; stepdaughter, Holly Coffran, of New Port Richey, Fla, stepson, Daniel Helms Jr and wife Amy, of Norfolk, Virginia; sister, Kathy Gunter Williams and husband Mike of Burnsville; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 7:00 pm Monday, October 1, 2012 in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Darrin Waldroup and Kay’s son, Rev. Shane Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Mitchell County, 236 Hospital Dr., Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the Helms Family.
