Details: Born on November 9, 1914 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late David Monroe Sluder and Rosa Bentley Sluder Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ballard Johnson infant son, William Monroe Johnson and daughter, Clara Johnson Stafford, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and six brothers.
‘Mamaw Johnson’ had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease those she cared about. She enjoyed winning at checkers and looking at her the lights and decorations of her ‘year round’ Christmas tree. She also loved to travel.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her children; Claudia Aldridge, Ballard Johnson, Jr., and Betty Stafford. She is also survived by one sister, Mildred Lane, seventeen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The funeral services for Faye Johnson will be conducted on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 4:00 pm at the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Bill McGuire and Cass Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in the Fork Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the church.
