The deadline to register for the November 6 election is tomorrow, October 12 at 5 p.m. Surrounding county’s Boards of Election are encouraging everyone to make sure that they are registered to vote in their particular county. One stop early voting will begin one week from today, October 18 at the Board of Elections office in Burnsville from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. on Saturday. In Mitchell County one stop voting will be held at the Town Hall in Spruce Pine and at the board of elections office at the Courthouse in Bakersville . Early voting hours in Mitchell County are from 8 till 5 Monday through Friday and from 8 till 1 on Saturday.  Absentee ballots were mailed out to voters beginning in September and the last day to request mail-in absentee ballots is October 30th.
