Spruce Pine Christmas Parade Set

Despite delays in repairs to the 19E bypass bridge in Spruce Pine, Town officials have reached an agreement that will assure that the town's annual Christmas parade will continue on its traditional date, on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. Town Manager Richard Canipe recently met with Police Chief Coy Hollifield and Gary Renfro of the Kiwanis Club, which sponsors the parade, to work out details on how the parade route will be affected if the bridge is not reopened by November 24 as expected. Contingency plans to redirect traffic are now in place so that the parade can continue as originally scheduled.
