The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce will host a candidates’ forum on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 6 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse in Bakersville, NC. A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. to give the public an opportunity to meet with the candidates prior to the forum. All candidates seeking office in the District have been invited to attend. Those seeking the offices of US House of Representatives District 11, NC State Senate District 47, NC House of Representatives District 85 and the Mitchell County Commissioners and Board of Education candidates have each been invited to participate. Candidates will be presented with questions formulated by the Mitchell County Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee in partnership with the local Democratic and Republican party representatives as well as submissions from Chamber members.
