October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Family Violence Coalition of Yancey County is holding its yearly Memorial Service to remember and honor the lives of those lost to domestic violence homicides in North Carolina.  The service will be held at Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church Sunday October 28th at 2:00pm, in the church sanctuary. The public is invited to come show support to local families who have experienced a personal loss due to domestic violence and to take a stand against family violence in your community.
