Elections Board Warns of Voter Fraud

The Yancey County Board of Elections has issued a written warning about the risk of voter fraud in the current 2012 elections. A statement from the Yancey BOE says that “All citizens should be aware that each and every allegation of voter fraud will first be investigated by this office and our findings forwarded to the State Board of Elections for possible forwarding to the SBI for charges without fail.” The statement goes on to say that  “if any voter is offered money or anything valuable or feels intimidated to vote for a particular candidate or political party they should call the Board of Elections Office at 682-3950 and report the incident immediately.”  The statement noted that there is currently an ongoing investigation into possible voter fraud in the county during the 2010 election.
