Incumbent Republican Ralph Hise of Mitchell County was reelected to the NC State Senate District 47 with 46,144 votes. Democrat challenger Phil Feagan received 35,587 votes.  In the NC House of Representatives District 85 race Republican Mitch Gillespie won over JR Edwards by receiving over 68% of the vote.  The NC House of Representatives District 118 race featured Yancey County native, Republican Michele Presnell matched against 5 term Democrat Ray Rapp. Presnell won the seat with 51.3% of the vote, 18,646 votes. Ray Rapp received 48.7% of the vote with 17,699 votes. The US House of Representatives District 11 covered portions of 17 counties in Western North Carolina and Republican Mark Meadows won the race over Hayden Rogers with 57.4% of the vote.
