The Asheville Police Department is still looking for a martial arts fighter from Burnsville wanted for assaulting an officer in Asheville over the weekend. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Lloyd Raymond Phillips, who’s wanted for assault on a government employee and resisting public officers. Police say Phillips is a mixed martial arts fighter and is accused of shoving Officer Leslie Torgow as she was trying to break up a fight outside Magnolia’s early Saturday morning. Phillips then fled. A second man, 21 year old Jonathon Michael Aliferis of Asheville, was arrested at the scene after police say he put a choke hold on the officer. He was charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting public officers. Aliferis’ bond was set at $51,000.
