Newly elected local officials in Yancey County will take their oaths of office today. The three new members of the Yancey County Board of Commissioners-Jeff Whitson, Randy Ollis and Jim Edwards- will take the oath of office at 2:00 pm in the courtroom of the Courthouse while new school board members-Norb McKinney and Angie Weatherman, who were elected back in May, will be sworn in at 6:30 pm prior to the monthly meeting at the Board of Education office located at School Circle in Burnsville.
