Details: Ed Buchanan, Jr. died on Tuesday, December 18th at Autumn Care of Marion.
     Born on March 23, 1933 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Ed and Myrtle Sparks Buchanan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelba Jean Carpenter Buchanan of forty-seven years who passed away in 2003. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Buchanan.
     Mr. Buchanan was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Berry Chapel Baptist Church, a member of Vesper Masonic Lodge #554 A.F. & A.M. and the Shriners. He was the owner of the Western Sizzlin Steakhouse in Marion for twenty-five years. He attended the Grace Community Church.
     He loved being outdoors, hunting, and especially fishing. He fished on the B.A.S.S. and F.L.W. fishing tours.
     The funeral services for Mr. Ed Buchanan, Jr. will be conducted on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Graveside rites. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
     Mr. Buchanan is survived by his son; Paul Buchanan and wife, Donna of Marion; his daughters; Kathy White and husband, Tim of Marion; Ellen Marinaccio and husband, Joe of Acworth, GA; his grandchildren; Nick Buchanan, Savannah Buchanan, and Elizabeth White; his brother; Sam Buchanan and wife, Kathleen of Marion.
      In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to either: Autumn Care of Marion Activities Fund, P.O. Box 339, Marion, NC 28752 or Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28753.
     The family would like to say, ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Autumn Care of Marion and Hospice of McDowell for the wonderful and loving care.
