Details: George Woodby of Byrd Branch passed away on Monday, December 17th at St Josephs Hospital in Asheville.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late James Marion and Alice King Woodby and the husband of Edith Bryant Woodby who died September 11, 2012.  George was a retired farmer
     Surviving are; 2 daughters:  Wanda Woodby of Green Mountain and Elizabeth Caudill and husband, Allen, of Burnsville; 2 sons:  Fred Woodby and wife, Donna, and Ted Woodby all of Burnsville; 8 grandchildren:  Jennifer Kerley, Denise Baker, Deirdre Caudill, Phillip Caudill, Jeffrey Adam Caudill, Abbie Davis, Amber Woodby and Andrew George Woodby; 4 great grandchildren:  Alex, Emily, Jordan and Gabriel; 2 sisters:  Mary Kampf of Hendersonville and Maude Bradford of Burnsville; and, 2 brothers:  Claude and Bill Woodby of Burnsville.
     Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Frank Cable and Dale Laws will officiate.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday Woodby Family Cemetery on Byrd Branch.
     The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
