Details: Tony A. Crowder of the Estatoe Community, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve,  December 24th at his home.  A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Arlind and Alma Townsend Crowder.  He was also preceded in death by brothers:  Terry, Alan and Arthur Crowder.  He was an Environmental Health Supervisor with the Toe River Health District for 28 years and a member of River Valley Baptist Church, but attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and Lily Branch Baptist Church.  He was also a member of Vesper Masonic Lodge #554 AF&AM in Spruce Pine.  Tony loved to fish, camp and spend time with his granddaughters.
     Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Polly Pitman Crowder; daughter, Lisa Houghton and husband, Tom, of Elizabethton, TN; sons: Richie Crowder and wife, Paula, of Newdale and Rev. Toby Crowder and wife, Leslie, of the Arbuckle Community; 6 granddaughters: Alyson and Jessica Houghton, Courtney and Kelli Crowder and Emilee and Katy Crowder; brother, Alec Crowder and wife, Rose, of Spruce Pine; 2 sisters-in-law:  Lucille Crowder and Lou Della Hoilman Crowder both of Spruce Pine.
     Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26th in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  The Rev. Toby Crowder, Rev. Nathan Silver and Rev. Rocky Branch will officiate.  Burial will be in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery on Bent Road.  The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
