Details:  Mildred Adkins Renfro of Green Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2012.   A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Gilbert and Ethel Howard Adkins.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Tipton and three brothers:  Dee, Max and Plen Adkins.  Mildred was a member of North Bend Freewill Baptist Church and was the former director of the Yancey County Senior Center where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement.  She was a loving grandmother who loved her flowers, gardening, canning, her church and her family.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
     Surviving are her loving husband of 64 years, Ellis Renfro;  son, Mike Renfro; daughters:  Donna Renfro and husband, Durwood Peed, of Greenville, S.C. and Dianne Hughes and husband, Randy, of Burnsville; grandchildren:  Skyler Hughes, Dylan Renfro, Kyndall Renfro-Peed and Justin Peed; sister-in-law, Gladys Renfro of Green Mountain.  Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
     Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 29th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service.  The Rev. Dean Murphy will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 prior to the service at the funeral home.  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Fairview Cemetery at Horton Hill.
