Rep. Gillespie to Step Down



Recently reelected Rep. Mitch Gillespie has accepted an appointment to become an Assistant Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and will be stepping down as a representative in District 85 in the North Carolina House. Gillespie, a seven term member of the NC House, will be sworn in for his 8th term and then resign before starting work for the DENR on January 7th where his focus will be to reform the organization’s regulations, permitting policies and laws. While in office, Gillespie represented Avery, Mitchell and McDowell Counties where Republican Party members are starting the process of replacing him before the end of January.
