Details: Mr. Hopson was born January 16, 1931 in Green Mountain, a son of the late Clifford and Nora Deyton Hopson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Hopson. Howard retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years, serving in both Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Virginia Phillips Hopson; four sons: Michael Hopson and wife, Franci, Clifford "Bud" Hopson, Skip Hopson and wife, Sarah, and Patrick Hopson, all of Opelika, AL; four sisters: Murrell Irene Roberts of Erwin, TN, Charlene Perlene Hopson Hensley of Burnsville, Frances Hopson Whitson of Green Mountain and Shirley Jean Hopson Peterson of Burnsville; five brothers: Harley Hopson of Jonesboro, TN, Herbert Hopson of Green Mountain, Norman Hopson of Burnsville, Carl Hospon and Clifton Hopson, Jr. both of Opelika, AL; six grandchildren: Erica, Lisa, Tony, Bryan, Samantha and Laura; four great-grandchildren and many other loving members and friends
Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 22nd at 1pm at First Assembly of God in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Barry Danner officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm Monday evening at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL.
