Arrangements: Webb Funeral HomeDetails: Texie Buchanan Jones of U.S. Hwy. 19-E in Spruce Pine went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19 at her residence.
Born on December 16, 1918 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Dexter and Minnie Thomas Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ernest Jones who passed away in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her son; Woodrow Jones; her daughters; Essie Lee McKinney and Rita Jones; her brothers; Lonnie, Howard, Brown, and Vergus Buchanan; and her sisters; Ivie McClellan and Tessie McClellan. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren dearly.
Mrs. Texie Jones is survived by her sons; Phillip Jones of the home and Junior ‘J.J.’ Jones and wife, Sherry of Spruce Pine; her daughter; Barbara Sparks and husband, Johnny of Spruce Pine; her sister; Alice Buchanan of Spruce Pine; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; eight great, great grandchildren.
The funeral services for Texie Jones will be conducted on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s. Greg Hollifield, Ken Jenkins, and Dallas Renfro officiating. Interment will follow in the Buchanan Cemetery on Gouges Creek Road in Spruce Pine. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
The family would like to say, ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice of Mitchell County for the wonderful care they provided for Mrs. Jones.
