A mud and rock slide just outside of Bakersville has closed part of Hwy 226. DOT crews have worked over the weekend to clean up the mess that has shutdown traffic on the 7000 block of N226 near Fork Mountain Road. The slide happened early Friday morning as storms dumped heavy rains in the area. Work continues today and officials could not say when the highway would be reopened.
