A commissioner from McDowell County has been selected to fill the vacant District 85 seat in the NC House of Representatives. Thirty-one –year-old Josh Dobson will take over the vacated seat of recently reelected Mitchell Gillespie who was appointed as an assistant secretary at the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. He received unanimous votes from the Republican Executive committees in Mitchell, Avery and McDowell Counties. As one of the youngest members of the new general Assembly, Dobson said that he will work with a “clear purpose” to help make the district grow and prosper.
