Details: Madgie Hollifield Carpenter of Newland died on Saturday, February 2nd at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
Born on December 22, 1922 in Carter County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Sarah Potter Hollifield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Bert Carpenter who passed away in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Jack, Spurgeon, Bill, and Bobby Hollifield.
Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She loved her children; gardening, painting, and working in her flowers.
Mrs. Madgie Carpenter is survived by her son; Vernon Carpenter of Newland; her daughter; Alveda Buchanan and husband, Frank of Newland; her brothers; L.D. Hollifield and Jimmy Hollifield both of Del Rio, OH; her sister; Trena Greer and husband, Alfred of Elizabethton, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral services for Mrs. Madgie Carpenter will be conducted on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Hoilman officiating. Interment will be in the Daniels Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel.
