Behavioral Risk and Treatment of Chronic Pain Workshop

"Behavioral Risk and Treatment of Chronic Pain" is a workshop for behavioral health professionals who work with patients with chronic pain conditions. Attendees will be offered the latest information on the intersection of chronic pain, mental heath and substance abuse problems - an increasingly common but difficult combination of issues. Attendees will learn about the essentials of chronic pain, the difference between physical dependence and addiction, and best practices in treating chronic pain. In addition, attendees will learn how to assess patients for potential misuse or abuse of pain medications so that patients can have their pain effectively treated without causing or reactivating a substance abuse disorder. Finally, attendees will learn the essential cognitive and behavioral coping skills all pain patients need in order to deal with their pain. Workshop is Friday, March 1st from 8:30 am to 12:45 pm. For more information call 828-257-4475.
