Details: Lillian McMahan Sparks of Crabtree Road in Spruce Pine died Sunday, February 3rd at the home of her daughter.
     Born on July 36, 1933 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Murphy McMahan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Sparks who passed away in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Jackie Biddix and her brothers; Paul and Roy McMahan.
     Mrs. Sparks was a member of the Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church. She was retired from Baxter’s with twenty-five years service. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, working in her flowers, camping, and socializing with her friends.
     Mrs. Lillian Sparks is survived by her daughter; Debbie Buchanan of Spruce Pine; her stepson; T.R. Sparks and wife, Leslie of Spruce Pine; her son-in-law; Tim Biddix of Spruce Pine; her brothers; Ted McMahan of Newdale and Burl McMahan of Fayetteville, NC; her grandchildren; Freddie Tipton, Nikki Burleson, Heather Burleson, Aaron Buchanan, Tyler Biddix, and Ryan Sparks; and her great grandchildren; Austin Tipton, Briana Tipton, Colton Burleson, Luke Burleson, and Woodrow Buchanan.
     The funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Sparks will be conducted on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 4:00 pm at the Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Fred Proctor and Dallas Renfro officiating. Interment will follow in the Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the church.
