Details: Minnie Jane Willis Wilson, 84, of Scronce Creek, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Bertie Bradford Willis. She was the wife of Wayne Wilson who died in 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son: Jimmy Lee Wilson; grandson: Roger Wayne Carroll; granddaughter: Tonya Diane Wilson; son-in-law: Herman John Carroll; sister: Reba Ward and a brother: Johnny Willis. She had retired with the US Forest Service. Minnie Jane had made baskets since she was 3 years old.
Surviving are a daughter: Gail Carroll of Burnsville; a son: David Wayne Wilson and Dianna of Burnsville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Dessie Wilson, Lydia Tipton, Linda Miller and Mildred Renfro and a brother: Ronnie Willis all of Burnsville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of which she was a life-long member. Rev. Jerry Shelton will officiate. Burial will be in the Ferguson Cemetery on Scronce Creek.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Friday at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home where the body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
