The NC Department of Transportation has awarded a $1.3 million contract to Maymead Inc. of Mountain City, Tenn. to resurface several roads in Yancey County, including: 3.5 miles of NC 80 from South Toe River Road to Colbert’s Creek Road, another 2.3 miles of NC 80 from US 19 to the Mitchell County line and ten sections of secondary roads totaling 6.4 miles. Work can start as early as March 15th and is scheduled for completion by October 15th according to the NCDOT.
