Sheriff Gary Banks has announced the launch of the new and official website for the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office. It features an easily navigated format that is user friendly and provides pertinent information to the public at the click of a button.  Some of the features include press releases, gun permits, public service announcements and Neighborhood Watch information.  Additionally, the new website provides the public with a means to easily, quickly and anonymously submit tips to the Sheriff’s Office regarding crimes, illegal drug activity, and the location of individuals with warrants.  Sheriff Banks said he recognizes that public information is an invaluable tool to solve and prevent crime and results in safer communities and a better quality of life for the citizens of Yancey County. In conjunction with the website, the sheriff’s office has also launched a Facebook page. Banks said that this social media outlet could be mutually beneficial for the public and the Sheriff’s Office by simultaneously keeping the public informed while providing a venue for the public to help the Sheriff’s Office by submitting tips to solve crime.
