The Town of Burnsville was among the winners at recent award ceremonies in Salisbury celebrating the accomplishments of the NC Main Street and Small Town Main Street programs. The NC Department of Commerce presented 18 awards at the event, one of them going to Burnsville Public Arts Design Board’s Art on Main Street Program. The Public Arts Board and Main Street Committee along with the Town Council were presented with a certificate of Special Recognition for Design in the in the NC Small Town Main Street’s promotion category. The Burnsville entry highlighted downtown art projects including the sculpture on South Main, the Quilt Trails quilt blocks and Sundial on North Main Street , murals on several buildings in town and the historic statue of Otway Burns on the Town Square. This is the third consecutive year that Burnsville has been recognized with an award in the promotions category.
