A rock slide closed the road on part of Highway 226 in Mitchell County Wednesday afternoon. The road was closed near Fork Mountain Road. The North Carolina Department of Transportation was able to quickly get one lane re-opened between Bakersville and Buladean. All lanes were reopened to traffic around 9pm Wednesday. No injuries were reported from the incident.
