Some Blue Ridge Parkway campgrounds, visitors centers, and picnic areas will remain closed along the Blue Ridge Parkway this year. That’s the result of budget cuts ordered by the federal government. Parkway rangers were told to cut more than three-quarters of a million dollars from their $17 million budget. That will result in the closure of Crabtree Falls campground and the visitor center near Spruce Pine in Mitchell County. The budget cuts will also delay the opening of many other parkway campgrounds and picnic areas until May 24th.
