Defensively, Tate Robinson, Daulton Rathburn, Gray McCurry and Drew Hoilman all recorded putouts for Heritage while Caleb Garland, Tate Robinson, Daulton Rathburn, Drew Hoilman, Rome Robinson, Dakota Wilson and Gray McCurry all had assist in the contest.

McCurry pitched six strong innings and gave up only three hits but two errors hurt the Cougars. Both McCurry and Linn struck out ten batters in the WHC opener.
Hendersonville, ranked 6th in 1A, grabbed a 3-0 lead after five innings of play before the Cougars got on the scoreboard on a run by Lucas King in the sixth. Rome Robinson scored the other Heritage run in the 7th inning but the Cougars could not push another runner across.
