Details: Marjorie Serenia Drake Buckner of the Lickskillet Community went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17th at her home. A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Elsie Hamlin Drake and wife of the late Ralph Buckner, who passed away in 2004. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Drake; infant brother and a great-granddaughter, Whitney Renfro. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all her knew her. Her family and faith in the Lord was her life.
Surviving are daughters: Diane Austin and fiancé, Ronnie Callahan, of Banks Creek, Sheila Bradley and husband, Aldon, of Indian Creek and Pam McMahan and husband, David, of Estatoe; sister, Zeynobia Arrowood of Weaverville; grandchildren: Jason Elkins, Kenny Austin, Brian Elkins, Michelle Simmons, Chastity Collier, Brandon Austin, Cody McMahan and Casey McMahan; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Several nieces, nephews and special friends: Laura Hollifield and Linda Ayers also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The Rev. Jerry Shelton and Rev. Phillip Garland will officiate. Burial will be in the Jess Buckner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
