Details: Pearl Geouge Franklin of the Three Mile Community in Avery County died on Wednesday, March 27th at her home.
Born on May 1, 1916 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Tim and Lockie Willis Geouge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Franklin. She was also preceded in death by her brother; Edd Geouge and her sister; Nettie Grindstaff.
Mrs. Franklin was a member of the Altamont United Methodist Church and was a large part of her church and community. She enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, and playing with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Pearl Franklin is survived by her daughters; Melba Franklin and Joyce Sellars both of Three Mile; Linda Stillwell and husband, John of Burnsville; and Shirley Smith and husband, Jesse of Crossnore; her brothers; Glenn Geouge of Chimney Rock and Leonard Geouge of Bakersville and her sisters; Belle Buchanan of Bakersville and Bonnie Geouge of Spruce Pine; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
The funeral service for Mrs. Pearl Franklin will be conducted on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Altamont United Methodist Church with the Rev’s. Keith Nichols, Keith Tutterow, and Ken Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
