An important event for French Broad Electric Membership Corporation will take place when the cooperative holds its Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 4th at Madison High School in Marshall. The cooperative’s members will meet to elect directors and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and activities. French Broad EMC, which services 38,000 customers in Madison, Mitchell, Buncombe and Yancey Counties in North Carolina and Unicoi County in Tennessee, will have two seats in Yancey County, held by Warren Buchanan and Bill Riddle, open as well as one seat in Buncombe County held by Gary Wilde. Yancey County residents Sherry McCuller and Barron Brown are seeking the seats held by Buchanan and Riddle and Sue Lomenzo of Buncombe County is looking to fill the seat held by Wilde. All three were nominated by petition. Those unable to attend the event can send their proxy vote by another voting member.
