NC High Peaks to Hike the Historic Mitchell Toll Road
The North Carolina High Peaks Trail Association will be leading a hike Saturday August 17th from the Blue Ridge Parkway down the historic Mitchell Toll Road and over several prominent peaks with stunning views including the Rocky Knobs and Greybeard. The hike will also offer the option of a side trip to a spectacular vista atop the Blue Ridge Pinnacle. It's a fairly strenuous 8 mile hike that will require some bush-whacking with many easy sections along the Toll Road. Hikers should plan to meet at the Town Square in Burnsville at 8:30am or on the Blue Ridge Parkway at a grassy pullout near the Mitchell Toll Road at 9:15am. Bring lunch and plenty of water. This is a pet-friendly event. For more information call hike leader Margaret Hayes at 336-817-8123 or email email@example.com.
