Details:  James “Rashel” Fox, age 70, of the South Toe Community, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 7th, 2013.   A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late James and Lola Fox.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Fox and a sister, Carleen Gilley.  He was a retired logger who loved fishing with the grandkids, sitting around talking with friends and watching NASCAR racing and basketball.  He will be truly missed.  

     Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Hazel Woody Fox; son, Doug Fox (Lisa) of Burnsville; two daughters, Cherie Parker (Harlon) of Burnsville and Leonia Smith (Alan) of Kernersville.  Rashel is also survived by five grandchildren that were his treasures: Lance and Landrie Fox, Alyson Parker, and Emorie and Ellison Smith; two brothers, Lloyd and David (Karen) Fox and three sisters, Janette Hughes, Lillian Parker (Howard) and Debra Hathcock (Paul), all of Burnsville.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

      Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Monday, September 9th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Pastor Donald Davis will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Graveside services will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, August 10th in the Fox Cemetery on Lower Browns Creek.
