BLT Presents "Prince of Dark Corners" to Benefit David Hall
The Burnsville Little Theature will present "The Prince of Dark Corners", a play written by Gary Carden, Saturday October 19th at 7:30pm at the Burnsville Town Center as a fundraiser for David Hall. David is a resident of Mitchell County and a friend of the theatre who was recently severely injured in a logging accident that resulted in his having a leg amputated. The play focuses on the life of Major Lewis Redmon, a 19th century outlaw who was sometimes referred to as "the Jesse James of the Mountains". At the time of his capture in 1881 he was the most famous outlaw in the country. He was portrayed as a cold blooded killer in the northern press, but was a hero to the mountain people of North and South Carolina. Milton Higgins was featured in a film version of the play that aired recently on PBS, and portrays the outlaw in this production. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and will be on sale at the Town Center, the Yancey History Association, TRAC, and the Chamber of Commerce.
