Details: Paul Peterson of Greenville, South Carolina passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late James B. and Lola Renfro Peterson. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Maggie Cardwell, Dick Peterson, Betty Whitson, Polly Garland and Jean Hayes.
Mr. Peterson was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Inspector with the City of Houston, TX. He was of the Baptist Faith, and recently attended Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Peggy Ingleburger Peterson; nephew “son”, Baron Carroll (Cyndi) and their children, Caleb and Joshua; a niece “daughter”, Sherry Kelm (Ron); his godchildren, Chris Kelm, Nicole Wylie (Keir) and their children; three brothers, Monroe, Homer and Tommy Peterson; a sister, Margaret Yelton (Frank); a sister-in-law, Stella Peterson, brothers-in-law, Bill Garland and J. W. Hayes and many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews; great-great nieces & nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2013 in The Howze Mortuary Chapel in Greenville. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home. An additional memorial service will be held in Houston, TX at a later date.
