Details: Julia Miller Fortner of Jonesborough, Tennessee, formerly of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 29th at Four Seasons Health Care in Jonesborough, Tennesse.
A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Polly Miller. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stanley D. Fortner; sister, Bertha Silver and brothers: Earl, Hal and Loy Miller. Julia was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, gardening, watching Alex Trebeck on Jeopardy and watching the Atlanta Braves play.
Surviving is her daughter, Suzanne Rainey and husband, Charles, of Jonesborough, TN; granddaughter, Leigh Kern and husband, Mike, of Fairview; grandsons: Gene Rainey of Arden and Michael Fortner and wife, Gwen, of Candler; great-grandchildren: Jay Taylor of Canton, Alexandra Marlow of Texas and Sydney Downs-Rainey of Arden; sister, Virgie Hyder of Michigan; brothers: Gene Miller and wife, Sandy, of Burnsville and Tony Miller and wife, Linda, also of Burnsville.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 2nd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Honeycutt/Price Cemetery on Georges Fork.
