Lonada Wright Allen, age 75, passed away on Friday, February 21st, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness. She was born in Yancey County to the late William Lark Wright and Zora Fox Wright of Burnsville. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David “Pete” Allen; brother, Carson Wright and a grandson, Ethan Travis Robinson. She was a great mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, sewing, working in her garden and was loved by many. Her suffering is now over and she has gone to be with her Lord and Savior and her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters: Stephanie Robinson and husband, Travis, of Estatoe, Kim Riddle of the home, Marketta McIntosh of Black Mountain and Tracy Phillips of Cleveland; sister, Cynthia Allen and husband, Vaughn, of Burnsville; 5 grandchildren: Brandon Penland, Colette Blankenship and husband, Brian, Cody McIntosh, Iain Robinson and Megan Phillips; 3 great-grandchildren: Riley, Rueben and Addison Blankenship. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 24th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. TF Campbell, Rev. Brian Blankenship and Rev. Bud Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wright Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.
