Mitchell County Manager Charles E. Vines (Chuck) was presented with the prestigious Order of the Longleaf Pine Award on behalf of Gov. Pat McCrory during the Commissioners meeting Monday night. It recognizes a citizen’s contribution to the community, their dedication to their profession and for their efforts in making a significant impact toward creating a better North Carolina. Vines, who has been in service to Mitchell County for nearly seven years as County Manager, joins a notable list of recipients of the award including Billy Graham, Michael Jordan, Maya Angelou and Andy Griffith.
