Pictured is Rotarian Bill Carson presenting the locally handmade Rotary mug to Sydeena Isaacs. On January 30 members of the Rotary Club of Spruce Pine received an excellent program provided by Sydeena Isaacs, Clinical Dietician of Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, who was introduced by Rotarian Oscar Weinmeister. A graduate of Appalachian State University (Go Mountaineers!), Sydeena holds a Master’s Degree in Nutrition. During her studies, she completed several internships where she gained experiences in food service, community, and clinical nutrition, with a focus on rural dietetics. Sydeena came to BRRH in May of 2013 and has championed the training and implementation of a new patient services program called “Catering to You.” This program focuses on delivering exceptional service to patients through a restaurant style dining experience. She is actively involved in the community and teaches a course on Nutrition for Children at ASU. In her presentation, Sydeena provided Rotarians a detailed guide for setting and keeping health goals for the New Year. Rotarians applaud Sydeena’s work at BRRH and appreciate her sharing this information about a healthy life style.
