Bakersville Woman Charged With Hitting Two Pedestrians
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Katherine Bryant, 47 of Unicoi, and her 6-year-old grandchild were hit by a Kia Sorrento, driven by Kris Ann Waterhouse, 57 of Bakersville, Thursday in Unicoi County, TN. A Unicoi school bus was supposedly stopped on Unicoi Drive and the 6-year-old started to walk across the road to get on the bus. Waterhouse failed to stop for bus, which had all of its flashing lights on, as well as its red stop sign out. Bryant reportedly saw Waterhouse's vehicle not stop for the bus and used her body to protect her grandchild from getting hit. Both Bryant and her grandchild were taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Waterhouse was charged with one count of passing a school bus and two counts of felony reckless aggravated assault.
