Grindstaff Announces Candidacy for Mitchell County Commissioner
Matthew “Vern” Grindstaff would like to take this opportunity to announce his candidacy for Mitchell County Board of Commissioners. Vern is a life-long Conservative Republican and Mitchell County resident, having graduated from Mitchell High School in 1999. He attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville where he received an Associate’s degree in Religion/Church Administration. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Luther Rice University in Lithonia, Georgia in 2003. Vern has served as pastor of three churches, including Pleasant Gap Baptist Church, where he has served since 2012.
Vern has worked within the Republican Party his entire adult life. He has a great love for Mitchell County and the people here and hopes to be able to give back to a county that has provided so much to him and for him. Vern is committed to working toward fiscal responsibility while maintaining the services the county deserves and needs. Given the ever changing economic landscape, Vern hopes to bring a transitional vision to the office while continuing to focus on the traditions that have made Mitchell County great. He believes that in order to thrive, Mitchell County must work to attract new, innovative industry while capitalizing on and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of our current job force. If given the opportunity, Vern is committed to never forgetting that, as a holder of this office, he serves the greatest stakeholders in the county, the citizens.
Vern has been married to his wife Tiffany since 2006. She has worked in public education since 2008, where she has taught 5th grade and currently serves as a Kindergarten instructor.
