St. Patrick’s Day Party to Kick off FMC Anniversary Year

In 1999 community leaders started the Foundation for Mitchell County.  The St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, March 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pizza Shop in Spruce Pine will kick-off a celebration of this milestone 15th year of giving back to the community with a festive variety of activities including Music of Ireland performed by Patrick and Cathy Sky, a silent auction, food, and the grand prize of a couturier rhinestone brooch donated by Delphia Lamberson.
Among the items in the silent auction are a Japanese maple tree given by Harding’s Nursery, pottery goblets made by Robbie Bell of Speckled Dog Pottery, a photograph by Doug Sudduth of the lush green landscape at the intersection of Snow Creek and Wing Road, a gift certificate from the Green Goddess Hair Salon, and a chain-mail bracelet “Celtic Dream” made by Lynn McKinney.
Admission is $12 for adults and $7 for children 8 and under.  Reservations are recommended at 828-765-2652 or sjanelarson@gmail.com.  Proceeds will benefit the work of the Fund (formerly Foundation) for Mitchell County which since 1999 has awarded 54 grants to Mitchell County nonprofits totaling $536,159.
